Multicultural Affairs

The Office of Multicultural Affairs provides a wide range of support services and educational programs to all students enrolled in the School of Medicine. Besides promoting cultural understanding, the office also serves as a focal point for a variety of student activities including, among other organizations, the Student National Medical Association.

Under the direction of Mrs. Shirley Roberson, a nationally recognized person in the field, the office oversees and provides administrative support for a number of special programs that have as their common goal to increase the enrollment of underrepresented students in the health professions. Details of these are found on their website.

Two should be of particular interest to applicants: one designed to improve an applicant's credentials and competitive standing in the applicant pool, the other to prepare accepted students for the actual first year of medical study. Admission to both programs is highly competitive and open to all students.
